What a wonderful shoot this was! I had a fantastic time two years ago at Easter with this extended family over in at the beach in Barry (you can check out that shoot here) and I was thrilled when they asked to get together again to update the family album :-).
I’ll be honest, it was a stupidly hot day, we’ve been experiencing (enjoying? enduring?) ongoing heat waves in the UK and the shoot fell on a particularly hot weekend, but we managed to meet early morning so we finished up before the heat of the day started and the kids weren’t too done in by sun!
Woodchester Park is such an incredibly beautiful location for photography and works really well for families as the location provides so many games to play with, and currently has a ‘Wind in the Willows’ trail which is actually really stunning with beautiful statues of iconic characters from the series that families can go hunting for. We intended to get down to the lake and the boat house but in the end we got so sidetracked by the lovely trail, as well as chasing butterflies and blowing dandelion clocks, that we never quite made it all the way down.
Anyone who’s followed my work for a while knows I’m a sucker for long grasses, and Woodchester Park was a gift for this! I got so many beautiful shots of the children running through wild, long grasses and it felt like a postcard for British summertime. I was able to get plenty of candid photos of the kids playing and exploring, and we grabbed some family portraits along the way too. We finished up replicating some images we took on the beach last year, with the kids all look a little big bigger! Hopefully this will be a repeat shooting a few years again too. As always, grateful to have gotten to capture this lovely family!
