I’ve been fortunate to branch out more into events lately, photographing conferences and corporate gatherings where they want ‘less formal’ photos, basically bringing the documentary photography style I used to capture weddings with and using it for corporate events instead! It’s incredibly interesting to sit in on seminars or conferences or brainstorms in industries I would never normally get to know much about. Whilst I’m obviously working, discreetly as I can, I still do pick up on conversations and talking points and its fascinating stuff. I was lucky to be asked by the lovely people at Talking Heads to capture their annual away day with their education supervisors, documenting the break out discussions, small group work, one-to-ones as well as some headshots and team shots.
Everyone was so welcoming, as much as I did try to stay stealth like they were such a warm bunch and I really enjoyed listening to their work and the massive importance of supervision in education, something I didn’t even know existed until booking this shoot! No matter what work I do with camera, its always such ha gift to get to meet new people, in whatever context whether a family with a new baby, a gaggle of young kids stomping around woodlands, business owners running branding shoots or events – its always such a privilege, I know I say it a lot but it’s true and I will never stop saying it!
