Wow what an absolutely incredible wedding this was. I first started talking to Liz and Nathan over Skype when they were still living in Australia. I adored them both instantly and couldn’t wait to meet them properly and work with them on their wedding day. We had a fantastic pre-wedding shoot at their venue, The Barn at Brynich, which was really useful as I got to ‘play’ with the surrounding area ahead of the big day! And wow what a ‘surrounding area’ it was – in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. When I tell you we had ponies and horses crashing our bride and groom session (which was already atop a mountain) you get the idea of what a unique and epic day this was.
We started off at Liz’s parents home, and everyone was so wonderful. One of my favourite moments of the day was when Liz’s dad saw her in her wedding dress for the first time and was visibly moved to tears. Liz and Nathan got married a Liz’s local church which was beautiful and obviously very meaningful to family and friends. And then on to the gorgeous Barn for the reception, which was set up like a country fayre outside, with all kinds of games, and inside was beautifully decorated will all kinds of personal touches and displays by Liz, including hand stitched table names (significant dates for the couple). There were also obligatory fake beards for the head of each table to wear, a nod to Nathan’s impressive facial hair.
After the incredibly moving and hilarious speeches, and some more post-meal games and general frivolity, Liz and Nathan surprised all their guests with a beautiful, choreographed first dance to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’ to kick off the evening celebrations. It was an absolute joy to photograph this stunning day, thank you so much for having me, Liz and Nathan!
