I’ve been wanting to share this beautiful wedding for months but time kept slipping away from me! I had heard of the Matara Centre and swooned over photos of it for years, but until Danni and Ross booked me last year I hadn’t actually been there to take photographs. And now that I have – wow, what a special, beautiful place The Matara Centre is. You feel like you’re in a little bubble away from the rest of the world. Parts of it are like a japanese garden, there are beautiful water features and amazing plants and flowers everywhere. The main house is so grand and gorgeous, with a huge sweeping staircase and big, bright rooms and amazing decor.
After seeing the ceremony area I was a tad nervous as it was a very sunny day and I could see Danni and Ross would be stood right out in the bright sun, with guests hidden in the shade, which would mean lots of switching up my camera settings and keeping on my toes – but this is the stuff wedding photography is made of! I love being challenged like that as it really does make you a better, more confident and experienced photographer. And once again (I know, I say it a LOT) it just proves no two weddings are ever the same! The day before had been overcast, it would’ve been a completely different kind of light and a completely different atmosphere. The sunny day really did make us feel like we could be anywhere in the world, it was brilliant.
Danni is one of those people who everybody just adores, she has such an amazing outlook and attitude, she buzzes with positivity and always seems to be smiling, and Ross clearly knows he’s a very lucky man – the whole day he was just beaming at her! They are such a great match, both huge football fans (they finished their honeymoon in France to coincide with the Euros!), both very family orientated and both clearly love their friends to bits. I should mention their guests were awesome I actually didn’t want to leave I was having so much fun taking photos of them I felt like I was hanging out with old friends, such a great bunch of people.
Danni had chosen beautiful colours for the day, the bridesmaids were in a serene aquamarine tone with wonderfully simple bouquets of cream and baby pink roses and gypsophila (always a winner in bouquets) and they looked amazing with the groomsmen’s navy suits.
The reception room at Matara has this huge wall covered in fairy lights which is absolutely amazing during the evening, adding so much warmth and creating a stunning backdrop for the first dance and other evening photography.
Basically I can’t speak more highly of this wedding, the amazing couple, their awesome guests and the breathtaking venue! Thank you SO much Danni and Ross for choosing me to capture your day, it was just brilliant from start to finish.
